"Twelve years have passed since the Shengal tragedy, yet it is not merely a day recorded in the pages of history; it remains a living wound on humanity's conscience.

We bow with the utmost respect before the suffering, resilience, and steadfastness of our Yazidi people.

Commemorating these massacres and safeguarding the rights and dignity of the victims is a humanitarian duty that rests upon us all."

On August 3, 2014, the Yazidi community in Shengal was subjected to genocide perpetrated by ISIS mercenaries. The attack resulted in the killing, abduction, and displacement of thousands of civilians, in what is widely regarded as one of the most horrific atrocities of the twenty-first century.
