Most areas of the North and East Syria region have witnessed heavy snowfall since this morning, during which camp residents have faced significant difficulties coping with the severe cold wave, particularly as snow accumulated on tents, threatening the collapse of some of them and increasing the suffering of their inhabitants.

In this context, the administration of Newroz Camp, affiliated with the city of Derik in al-Jazira Canton, reported that it has begun forming five emergency committees, each consisting of ten members, with the aim of monitoring the conditions of the displaced on the ground and responding rapidly to any emergency that may result from the weather conditions.

The emergency committees are working to clear snow accumulations from tents and their roofs to prevent their collapse, in addition to checking on the conditions of displaced families and identifying their needs, in an effort to limit the worsening of the humanitarian crisis that could be caused by the severe cold wave.
