After long hours of battling the fires that swept through the western countryside of Tal Tamr, the scale of the destruction in Al-Tawila village has begun to emerge. Our correspondent recorded extensive damage affecting residents' homes and belongings, in addition to significant losses in agricultural lands, which constitute the primary source of income for local families.

The damage came after emergency teams, supported by local residents and reinforcement crews from Al-Hasakah and Al-Darbasiyah, succeeded in bringing the fires under control. The flames had spread to the village after breaking out in areas near the Turkish military bases stationed in the villages of Lilan and Al-Arisha in the western countryside of Tal Tamr.

Field footage revealed clear signs of devastation, including burned homes, damaged private property and public service facilities, while vast areas of farmland were left scorched by the flames, causing substantial material losses that are expected to directly affect the livelihoods of local residents.

Emergency teams and villagers fought a difficult battle to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching other villages, as strong winds accelerated its spread and expanded the affected area. Firefighting operations continued for several hours before authorities announced that the blaze had been fully contained.

The damage sustained by Al-Tawila village highlights the risks facing agricultural communities in the region. Residents are calling for more effective measures to protect farmlands and residential areas from recurring fires during the harvest season, which repeatedly cause severe losses to property and sources of income.

Worth to note that villagers face the challenge of assessing the damage and rebuilding what was destroyed, amid concerns that future fires may continue to threaten agricultural areas in the western countryside of Tal Tamr.
