Firefighting teams contain 80% of the Zerghn- Tal Tamr wildfires

Firefighting crews from the cities of al-Hasakah, Al-Darbasiyah, and Zerghn succeeded in bringing under control a major wildfire that broke out in agricultural lands earlier this morning and continued to burn for approximately eight consecutive hours.

According to local sources, the fire originated in areas near Turkish military bases in Bab Al-Khair and Tal Mohammad. The blaze spread across vast stretches of farmland and extended into several villages in the Zerghn countryside that are under Turkish control, eventually reaching areas beyond the earthen barrier separating Turkish-controlled territories from areas administered by the Autonomous Administration.

Ahmad Mahdi, an administrator with the al-Hasakah Firefighting Team, told ANHA agency that crews have so far managed to contain approximately 80 percent of the fire. He noted that the rapid response measures taken by emergency teams played a crucial role in preventing the flames from spreading to larger areas of agricultural crops.

He added that firefighting teams have fully extinguished the fire in the villages of Zerghn, while flames remain active in several villages around Tal Tamr, where crews continue their efforts to bring the situation completely under control.

According to preliminary estimates, the damage was limited to the destruction of approximately 20 dunams of wheat and 10 dunams of barley. Most of the remaining crops had already been harvested prior to the fire.
