Residents of the city of Qamishlo demanded during a protest vigil the release of their imprisoned sons held by the Syrian Interim Government.

Today, Qamishlo witnessed a protest organized by the families of prisoners from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), calling for the release of their relatives detained by the Syrian Interim Government amid the continuing suffering of families waiting for the return of their loved ones.

Families of the prisoners gathered at Sony Roundabout in the city center, holding photographs of their sons and chanting slogans calling for the fulfillment of their demands and the release of the detainees. They also carried banners reading: “We stand with you, heroic prisoners” and “Your steadfastness is our strength, and your freedom is our cause.”

Under the provisions of the January 29 agreement, the first group of prisoners was released on March 10, 2026, followed by the second group on March 19, the third on April 11, the fourth on May 8, and the fifth on May 25. Today, 28 female fighters from the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) were also released.
