In recent days, videos have circulated documenting the destruction of martyrs’ shrines in Raqqa by factions of the Syrian Interim Government, supported by the Turkish occupation. These shrines contain the remains of local fighters who died in the war against ISIS mercenaries, in a clear violation of the values and sanctities of the peoples of northern and eastern Syria.

In this context, the families of martyrs in Kobani expressed strong condemnation of these brutal practices.

Shamsa Muhammad condemned the destruction of the shrines by these factions and also denounced conspiracies targeting the region’s peoples, particularly the Kurdish people. She said: “We will always stand behind the cause of our martyrs and will never abandon their path.”

Shamsa emphasized that they will protect the legacy of the martyrs, explaining: “The enemy fears even the graves of our martyrs, which is why they destroy their shrines. We are the owners of the martyrs and a people longing for freedom; we will not abandon the blood of our martyrs and will trace their footsteps.”

For her part, Najma Kinjo stated that martyrs are their red line, saying: “The whole world closes its ears and blinds its eyes to the rights of the Kurdish people. Everyone sees nothing and remains silent when it comes to the Kurds. The enemy destroys our martyrs’ shrines—doesn’t the world see this? They want to erase the rights of the Kurds in this world.”

Najma Kinjo further explained that Kobani is currently under severe siege and that everyone has remained silent about the Kurds. She added: “As long as the blood runs in our veins, we will protect our regions and the remains of our martyrs.”

Meanwhile, Donya Muhammad stated that they will always follow in the footsteps of their martyrs and work to achieve their dreams of freedom. She concluded: “Our martyrs are sacred, and we will never abandon their path. Martyrs are our existence and our identity, they are our most sacred values, and we will follow their path.”
