ANHA correspondents, citing local sources, reported hearing explosions in the vicinity of Taftanaz Airport in the Idlib countryside in recent hours, accompanied by columns of smoke and dust rising from inside and around the airport.

The sources said an explosion occurred about an hour ago and was heard across the area, coinciding with columns of smoke rising from inside and around Taftanaz Airport.

A short time later, two more explosions occurred in the area, also accompanied by columns of smoke and dust rising from inside the airport.

According to preliminary information reported by ANHA correspondents citing local sources, one account suggested that the explosions may have resulted from the detonation of remnants of war, while other information indicated that the site may have been targeted. Neither account could be independently verified so far.

As of the time of publication, the nature of the explosions and the party responsible for them remained unclear. There was also no confirmed information on any human or material losses.

Syrian government authorities have not yet issued any information or official statement clarifying the source or nature of the explosions.

The explosions coincided with aircraft flying over the area, although their identity remains unclear.
