Events throughout NE Syria on 20th anniversary of Qamishlo Uprising

Participants in events that spread throughout NE Syria, to commemorate the Qamishlo massacre and uprising, affirmed that the project of the democratic nation and AANES is the response of the components of NE Syria to all efforts to create strife, and they stressed “the spirit of the Qamishlo uprising will continue until a democratic society is built.”

Citizens in the NE Syria, as well as institutions of the Democratic Autonomous-Administration, and civil society organizations, commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Qamishlo Uprising on March 12, 2004, through various activities witnessed by the region, which coincides today, between gatherings and making statements, going out in marches and visiting the shrines of the martyrs of the uprising.

During the activities of visiting the shrines of the martyrs of the Qamishlo uprising in 2004, candles were lit on their shrines, and wreaths of roses were placed on them.

The participants in the activities that took place in the 7 Cantons stressed the escalation of the struggle until the goals of the martyrs were achieved in achieving victory over all regimes hostile to the brotherhood of peoples and based on the division of components, and that the Qamishlo uprising in 2004 was a spark for the popular movement in Syria in 2011.

They noted that the 2004 Qamishlo uprising constitutes the seed that the Kurdish people laid for themselves and for all Syrians towards a new beginning of peaceful struggle in the face of hostile policies, stressing that they will continue with that will and spirit, until reaching a pluralistic Syria that guarantees the aspirations of all Syrians.

They also stressed the importance of coming together in the face of the conspiracies and strife that are being hatched against the region, and that the project of the democratic nation is the response of the components of NE Syria to all efforts to create strife, so it must be defended and preserved.
