Hundreds of residents of the Euphrates Canton, members of the Autonomous Administration’s institutions, and representatives of political parties and women’s organizations headed to the Martyr Dijla Cemetery in the city of Kobani to bid farewell to the bodies of seven fighters who were martyred during attacks by mercenaries of the interim government on Kobani.

The martyrs include members of the Internal Security Forces: Martyr Baha al-Din (Baha al-Din Kajal), Martyr Sami (Sami Hamza), and Martyr Ayman; as well as fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces: Martyr Hanan Aqrab (Ahmad Mustafa), Martyr Baran Kobani (Mohammad Qara Ali), and Martyr Bawar Khazna (Majid Bozo), who were martyred on 19 January as a result of attacks by mercenaries of the interim government on Sarrin, south of Kobani.

In addition, Martyr Nihad (Nihad Ali) was martyred on 21 January in the village of Qazali in Kobani.

During the ceremony, Bakr Jidar, spokesperson for the Freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan Initiative in the Euphrates Canton, offered condolences to the families of the martyrs, stressing that they would follow in the footsteps of their fallen comrades. He said: “We are the people of martyrs, and therefore we must preserve the legacy of our martyrs and struggle against the savage enemy. We will confront the savage enemy with all our strength, and Kobani will be a graveyard for the enemies.”

For her part, Nesrin Abdullah, a member of the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), offered condolences to the families of the martyrs, saying: “The time for freedom and dignity has come. We will struggle with all our strength and break the enemy. We are confident in our power and that we will be victorious, because we are the people of martyrs and we walk the path of our martyrs. Therefore, we will always achieve victory, and victory will be our ally.”
