Euphrates Canton Executive Council reviews 2025 and sets 2026 plan

The Executive Council of the Euphrates Canton held its annual meeting today with the participation of council members, members of the Autonomous Administration institutions of the Euphrates Canton, the presidency of the Democratic Peoples’ Council in the canton, and a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The meeting took place in the Autonomous Administration Council Hall in the city of Kobani.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Afterwards, Najah Mohi al-Din, the member of the Democratic Peoples’ Council in the Euphrates Canton, read the New Year’s message sent by leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The legal advisor of the Executive Council of the Euphrates Canton, Mustafa Sheikh Muslim, then presented the annual report on the institutions’ work and activities for 2025.

Hamdan al-Abd, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, delivered a detailed briefing on the political situation.

The meeting continued behind closed doors to the media and concluded with the adoption of the 2026 action plan, which includes:

Developing economic and cooperative projects to improve the economic situation and create job opportunities.

Expanding water networks, especially in rural areas suffering from shortages of drinking water due to drought.

Developing and improving the telecommunications and internet sector.

Working to develop the Autonomous Administration’s media system to meet the requirements of the current stage.

Intensifying training and capacity-building for all employees and officials to improve services and institutional performance.

Supporting the agricultural sector by providing fertilizers, seeds, and fuel, given that the region is primarily agricultural.

Purchasing agricultural crops from farmers at encouraging prices.

Expanding electricity networks and repairing power stations.

Renovating and increasing the number of schools in areas lacking educational facilities.

Intensifying tree-planting campaigns to expand green areas, combat desertification, and address climate change, in line with the ecological society advocated by leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Supporting and developing the health sector to meet the needs of the population, particularly by continuing construction of the new hospital, to be completed by the end of 2026 and fully equipped with necessary medical tools and equipment.

Opening a department for the treatment of drug addiction.

Activating tax collection.

Finding solutions to disguised unemployment.

Putting an end to random encroachments on public property.
