Officials from the Syrian Engineers Syndicate said the organization has introduced new measures to accelerate the preparation of engineering inspection and structural assessment reports for damaged buildings across the country's governorates. The measures include providing preliminary engineering inspections free of charge and offering discounts of up to 50% on engineering studies and S2 structural assessment reports for projects carried out by humanitarian organizations, temporary housing initiatives, and the rehabilitation of hospitals, healthcare centres, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure.

Speaking to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Head of the Syrian Engineers Syndicate, Malek Haj Ali, said the syndicate is also developing training programmes to prepare engineering personnel to participate in the national damage assessment survey across its three stages (S1, S2, and S3), in line with the national methodology.

In statements published on its social media platforms on Friday, the syndicate stressed the importance of obtaining a structural safety assessment report before beginning any restoration work on damaged buildings.

It explained that damaged buildings are classified into three categories: those that are suitable for repair, those requiring structural reinforcement before rehabilitation, and those that must be demolished and rebuilt.
