During a press statement delivered today at the site of Tishrin Dam, Ziad Rustam, the official from the Energy Authority, highlighted the findings of inspection teams and their participation in protests against the ongoing attacks.

According to the statement, “Tishrin Dam is the first dam on the Euphrates River within Syrian territory, holding approximately 1.9 billion cubic meters of water. It directly serves around five million Syrians, supplying drinking water and electricity to the countryside of Aleppo and Kobani while irrigating nearly 200,000 hectares of agricultural land through key irrigation stations, including Babili, Khafsa, Japanese, Joint, and French stations—all located on the western bank of the river in Aleppo’s countryside.”

The statement further emphasized, “For the past two months, the dam has been subjected to deliberate and systematic bombardment by Turkish forces and their allied factions.”

Stressing the urgency of the situation, the Authority warned, “The dam is at severe risk, and its collapse could occur at any moment. We urgently call for the immediate intervention of the International Red Cross and UNICEF to put an end to these attacks and facilitate the deployment of maintenance teams.”
