Egyptian researcher, Dr. Taha Ahmed, indicated during an interview with ANHA agency that he believes that “the Global Initiative for Ocalan’s Freedom represents a type of community and humanitarian work and highlights the role of civil action organizations and those who believe in freedoms and human rights in confronting government restrictions and political calculations.”

He pointed out that "the campaign is going well and there is great coordination among its members through ongoing dialogue seminars to review the legal and humanitarian situation of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan," noting that "the campaign meetings discuss Ocalan's ideas and philosophy and the danger they represent for the West to the intellectual system on which capitalism is based in general".

He said: "Ocalan's situation and his legal status are also being discussed and discussed, as he is deprived of his rights as an old man, and the Turkish authorities do not respect his rights, which are established by international norms and laws related to detainees and prisoners."

According to the Egyptian researcher, “The Global Campaign for Abdullah Ocalan’s Freedom believes that the best way to support Ocalan’s cause is to inform communities and peoples of his ideas as it is one of the most effective methods for defending the man who spent a quarter of a century behind bars paying the price for his ideas.”

The silence of international organizations

Regarding the lack of interaction of international human rights organizations, the Egyptian researcher believes that “Western civil society and international human rights organizations mostly have political orientations and goals and are subject to a Western agenda in the first place, and therefore it is not expected that these organizations will adopt Ocalan’s case in a manner commensurate with the justice of the case given that the countries that follow it these organizations participated in one way or another in the international conspiracy against Ocalan, and the majority of international organizations are subject to America’s trends and policies and revolve around its global capitalist agenda, which makes them ignore Ocalan’s case due to the contradiction of their trends and goals with Mr. Ocalan’s intellectual project against the control of capitalism.”

He added, "Despite the Western political and human rights neglect of the Ocalan case, it can be said that there is a state of interest in the Ocalan case at the global level as a humanitarian issue with justice and oppression that deserves international sympathy, and there are increasing activities regarding Mr. Ocalan's ideas," noting that he "monitored interest." Many foreign activists spoke about Ocalan’s case and his ideas during many of the events in which he participated in various countries of the world, and raised questions about Ocalan’s person and his intellectual project.”

A member of the Global Campaign for Ocalan’s Freedom concluded his speech by saying, “There is interest among the international intellectual and academic communities in the ideas of Abdullah Ocalan, and there is a global conscience represented by artists, poets and intellectuals that is raising its voice on the issue of the Kurdish leader, which makes there hope to move the issue on the global and humanitarian level despite attempts to obscure it.”
