The co-chair of the Education Body in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Samira Haj Ali, affirmed that women in the region have played a fundamental role in all fields, particularly in the education sector. She stated that women have been, and continue to be, the backbone of educational work since the beginning of the revolution, serving as mothers, educators, teachers, and administrators.

In a statement published by the Women's Coordination Office of North and East Syria on its Facebook page, Haj Ali explained that women have continued to perform their educational duties despite the difficult circumstances, and have worked to develop themselves through participation in intellectual, administrative, and organizational training courses.

She noted that the Education Body held its annual evaluation meetings in all cantons, with the participation of women's offices. During these meetings, women's work during the academic year was assessed, difficulties and challenges were identified, and recommendations to be implemented during the current academic year, 2025-2026 were developed.

According to the general statistics of the Region's Education Body, there are 3,685 schools, 23,358 female teachers, and 2,038 females of administrative staff working in various educational institutions, while the number of female students exceeds 364,188. The body also reported that there are 62 kindergartens.

She made clear that these offices play a vital role in monitoring and regulating the administrative and educational operations of kindergartens, in addition to overseeing training according to approved curricula in three languages, as well as opening model kindergartens; a typical one in Raqqa that received positive feedback from parents.

She added that women constitute approximately 80% of the education sector, holding key positions and responsibilities at various administrative and educational levels. They actively participate in lectures, awareness campaigns, and training programs in cooperation with relevant organizations, aiming to improve the educational process and support female students, teachers, and administrators.

In closing, the co-chair of the Education Body in the Autonomous Administration revealed that the upcoming plans for 2026 focus on continuing the intellectual, behavioral, and administrative training of women, further developing kindergartens and curricula, licensing and opening new kindergartens in all cantons, adopting modern teaching methods, and continuing the regular meetings of the women's offices in preparation for a more organized and advanced academic year.
