During Newroz, Afrin, Shahba cantons... We to ensure the return to Afrin by continuing struggle

The people of Afrin and al-Shahba celebrate Newroz this year under the slogan "Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the solution to the Kurdish issue."

The celebration, which was held in the village of Alousha in the Ahadath district, began with lighting the Newroz flame and listening to Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s evaluations of Newroz.

Then, Fawza Youssef, a member of the presidential body of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), gave a speech in which she said: “The resistance of the people of Afrin continues until the liberation of Afrin. The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries will not be able to break our will or defeat us, as all our capabilities are harnessed to liberate Afrin, Girê Spi, and Serêkaniyê.”

She continued: "We cannot say that we are free until the liberation of Afrin. Our people have been resisting in al-Shahba for 6 years, exposing the lies of human rights organizations and the international community that have remained silent about the crimes of the Turkish state for 6 years. They must pressure Turkey to leave Afrin."

She pointed out: "The Turkish state seeks to legitimize its occupation, so how can they celebrate Newoz after they destroyed the statue of Kawa al-Haddad in Afrin, but Afrin will be liberated by the struggle of its people."

Fawza Youssef pledged to continue the struggle and concluded her speech: “We must raise the pace of our struggle with the will and faith that every Afrin has to expel the occupiers.”
