Displaced people's number rises, institutions launch urgent appeal for assistance

The displaced people from Afrin and Kurdish families in the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa fled their homes towards Rojava areas due to the attacks launched by the Turkish-backed mercenaries of the Syrian Interim Government.

The displaced are being received at the March 12th Stadium in Qamishlo, while the Displaced and Relief Committee is working to provide them with shelter in schools, academies, and the Nowruz camp in Derik city. According to information from the Displaced and Relief Committee, the number of arrivals is increasing hourly, and the displacement continues.

Due to the increasing number of displaced people, thousands spent last night in parks, where children and the elderly faced difficult health conditions due to the low temperatures and bitter cold.

In turn, the Kurdish Red Crescent has taken the necessary health measures, opening clinics in the cities of Qamishlo and Hasaka, and deploying mobile clinics in areas where displaced people are located. According to information from the Kurdish Red Crescent, efforts are underway to increase the number of doctors and nurses to meet the growing needs.

In the same context, Abdullah Hamdi Manu; the official in the Rojava Organization, stated that the large numbers of displaced people arriving in Hasaka and Qamishlo have left these families in dire need of basic necessities such as water, food, blankets, and other supplies. He explained that the increasing numbers exceed the capacity of local organizations to provide assistance, calling on international organizations to intervene and provide aid. He emphasized that every possible effort will be made, but the need for support is urgent and the situation is extremely critical.
