The families of detainees in the city of Darbasiyah called for the release of their relatives held by the Syrian Interim Government during a protest vigil.

Today, Darbasiyah city witnessed a protest in front of the courthouse, attended by families of detainees demanding the release of their relatives held by the Syrian Interim Government.

Participants raised photos of the detainees and banners calling for clarification of their fate. They stressed that they would continue their activities until their demands for the immediate release of all detainees and prisoners are met.

During the vigil, Sherin Hussein, speaking on behalf of the detainees’ families, delivered a statement affirming that their main demand is the return of the detainees and the disclosure of their fate. She stressed that they would continue their protests until all detainees are returned.

She also called on “the Interim Government to assume its responsibilities regarding the detainees’ file” and urged the public to take action and demand the release of the detainees.

The protest concluded with chants of “We want our prisoners” and “Freedom for the detainees.”
