The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed details of the meeting between Rojava leaders and the French Foreign Minister, affirming the forces’ commitment to implementing the provisions of the January 29 agreement and stressing the need for the return of displaced persons to their areas, particularly in Afrin and Serê Kaniyê.

The SDF Media Center issued a statement to public opinion regarding the content of the meeting between Rojava leaders and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

The statement read: “The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, held an official meeting in the city of Hawler in the Kurdistan Region, attended by the General Commander of the Women’s Protection Units, Rohilat Afrin, and the Co-Chair of the Department of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmed, alongside French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.”

The statement explained that the meeting addressed ways and mechanisms to implement the January 29 agreement, emphasizing the necessity of full implementation, in addition to discussing the continuation of joint efforts to combat ISIS and ensuring the protection and security of detention facilities holding the group’s members and their families.

The meeting also discussed the importance of protecting the particularity of Kurdish regions and safeguarding the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria, alongside the file of integrating military and security forces in all its details, including the Women’s Protection Units, in a manner that serves security and stability across the region.

For his part, the French Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s support for implementing the agreement, stressing the importance of this phase in strengthening stability and continuing counter-terrorism efforts.

In turn, the SDF leadership renewed its commitment to implementing the January 29 agreement, continuing the fight against ISIS, and ensuring the security of detention facilities holding the group’s members and their families.

The SDF also stressed the necessity of the return of displaced persons to their areas, particularly in Afrin and Serê Kaniyê, underscoring the importance of active participation at the national level in a way that contributes to reaching a comprehensive political solution that guarantees the rights of all components of the Syrian people.

In the conclusion of the statement, the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF praised the positive role played by France at this stage, given its impact in supporting efforts toward peace and stability.
