Death sentence,  life imprisonment against kidnapped women in occupied Afrin

The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state issued death sentences against two women, in addition to sentencing others to long prison terms in Afrin occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries.

The Violations Documentation Center published a detailed report on crimes against Kurdish women kidnapped by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state since its occupation of Afrin canton in 2018.

The Center  documented a list that includes the names of 9 Kurdish women and an Arab woman detained in Afrin Central Prison. Two of them were sentenced to “death,” and the others were sentenced to life imprisonment or for long years under various pretexts, they are: “Kawthar Hamada: kidnapped 5 years ago and sentenced to life imprisonment.

- Shamsa: From the Arab component (45 years old), detained for 5 years and sentenced to life imprisonment.

- Laila Youssef: kidnapped 5 years ago and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

- Amina Bakr Sultan: She was kidnapped two years ago and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

- Noura Sidhu: She was kidnapped two years ago and sentenced to 8 years in prison.

- Fatima Khalil Othman: kidnapped 4 years and 6 months ago and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

- Iman Khaled Kanjo, Ghazala Salmo, and Khalida Fawzi: They were kidnapped 3 years ago and sentenced to 7 years in prison..

- Mira Sidhu: She has been kidnapped for 6 years and has not been brought to court yet.

The Center said, “This scene requires urgent intervention from the international community to stop these violations and ensure justice and fair trials for the kidnapped women, in addition to the urgent need for their immediate release. The international community must adopt a strong stance to prevent such sentences and guarantee human rights and dignity.
