On July 4, an Iranian court sentenced labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi, who is being held in Lakan Prison in Rasht on charges of being linked to a banned organization, to death.

The lawyer of the labor activist and political prisoner sentenced to death announced that her death sentence had been overturned, and that her case had been referred to the same court for reconsideration.

The Sharifeh Mohammadi Defense Campaign confirmed after the news was published that they, as the Sharifeh Mohammadi Defense Campaign, welcome the decision issued by the Supreme Court. "We declare that we want her acquitted of all charges against her and released."

Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested in December 2023 in Rasht, Iran, on charges of “rebellion,” which carries the death penalty, and was sentenced to the maximum penalty. She was accused of belonging to the Komala party, and was subjected to physical and mental torture by intelligence agents while in detention.
