DAANES's Statement on Formation of Preparatory Committee for "National Dialogue Conference"

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria affirms that the committee formed by the Damascus Authority to prepare for the National Dialogue Conference does not represent all components of the Syrian people, nor does it meet the aspirations of its diverse segments. The administration considers this an initial step in a policy of marginalization that Syrians will never accept and calls for a genuine reassessment of the Syrian reality.

The DAANES issued a public statement addressing the committee formed by the Damascus Authority to prepare for the National Dialogue Conference, discussing its formation, representation, consequences, and the necessity of reassessing the situation. The statement reads as follows:

"With the fall of the Ba’athist regime and its authoritarian rule, hopes were renewed for a genuine change in Damascus’ approach and policies to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people on the basis of real and inclusive principles that reflect Syria’s current reality and express the people’s ambitions for a democratic future. This was the fundamental goal of Syrians from the outset of the revolutionary movement, before political calculations began to interfere on the ground.

The announcement of the preparatory committee for the National Dialogue Conference in Syria reflects a policy of ‘exclusion.’ This misguided approach demonstrates a ‘misjudgment’ of the entire Syrian reality and scene. It also reveals a clear deficiency in the process of Syria’s democratic transformation.

Such marginalization, along with the committee’s approach of ‘seclusion’ and rigidity, threatens to revert the country to the old centralized system. This is neither what we hope for nor what we favor in North and East Syria.

What we need today is genuine representation for all Syrians ‘without exclusion’ and a clear advancement in the standards of Syrian national unity and partnership. The transitional phase must be approached with real and democratic participation from all political and civil currents, as well as women, in a way that reflects the participatory nature of Syria—without ignoring or excluding the will and decisions of nearly five million Syrians in our regions.

We, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, reaffirm that the committee formed to prepare for the National Dialogue Conference does not represent all components of the Syrian people, nor does it meet their aspirations. No dialogue can take place under the exclusionary and marginalizing policies it follows in this manner, as this marks the beginning of a policy of marginalization that Syrians will never accept.

Furthermore, we call upon all those who genuinely wish for Syria to remain united, strong, and resilient to read the Syrian reality as it truly is—without denial or exclusion.

The strength of our Syrian homeland lies in the unity of its people, their solidarity, and their shared destiny. This unity is the true guarantee of a promising democratic future, worthy of the deep-rooted history of the Syrian people and the sacrifices of its sons and daughters."
