DAA's statement read: “The sixth anniversary of the occupation of Afrin marks the eighteenth of March, after 58 days of struggle and heroic epics by our people in Afrin alongside the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG).

After a historic struggle, Afrin was occupied as a result of a conspiracy and deals between forces and parties, and this conspiracy had major negative results, as Turkish occupation had brought the remnants of ISIS, Al-Nusra, and other extremist factions.”

DAA noted that “Afrin is experiencing a  tragic situation as a result of mercenary groups and Turkish instructions, to carry out acts contrary to values, morals, and international and human rights conventions, including demographic change, killing, kidnapping, violating women’s rights.

DAA affirmed that “the continuation of the Turkish occupation and the presence of its mercenaries is a disgrace to humanity, as well as a blatant assault on the unity of Syria and the unity of its people."

We in DAA recall the struggle and resistance of our people in Afrin and the YPJ-YPG, and we affirm that the march of the martyrs and heroes of Afrin will be a path for us towards achieving victory. We strongly salute the struggle and resistance of our people in the second phase of the resistance in Shahba camps.

On this occasion, we emphasize following: :

1- Liberating Afrin and our occupied areas is our strategic option, in addition to  dignified return of our displaced people.

2-  There will be no solution or stability in Syria without the liberation of Afrin and expel Turkey from it.

3- We call for an international investigation committee to investigate the facts in Afrin, document the violations, and bring the perpetrators to justice, including Turkish officials.

4- We affirm to Syrian public opinion that the presence of the Turkish occupation, its practices and its repercussions go beyond the borders of Afrin, and it is a disgrace on the forehead of every Syrian patriot.

5- We call on all Syrian national forces to unite ranks and mobilize energies to liberate the occupied areas, expel mercenaries from them, remove Turkey, and prevent it from continuing its attacks against Syria and its people, by supporting the resistance of our people in Afrin.
