With funding amounting to $800,000 from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Deir ez-Zor is pursuing a project to restore concrete silos with a capacity of 150,000 tons, in order to strengthen the agricultural infrastructure and relieve economic pressures on farmers as the summer season approaches.

Deir ez-Zor's grain storage silos are the only ones in the province, and they were destroyed when ISIS began taking control of the region.

The general supervisor of the Agricultural Community Development Company in Deir ez-Zor, Ramadan Al-Ali, said about the efforts made to restore the operational capabilities of the concrete silos within the city: “This comes within the priorities of the last conference aimed at enhancing stability in the region, where the work  began on January 5, 2024 and includes repairing the damage that exceeded its percentage 50% in some facilities, and the most severe damage appears in parts related to elevators, stairs and electric hoists, the destruction rate of which has reached 100%.” The work aims to reduce the financial burden on farmers.

Al-Ali stressed " the continued work to finish the project and rehabilitate the concrete silos before coming the summer season."

Worth to note that the Agricultural Community Development Company is scheduled to complete the rehabilitation work before the summer season.
