DAA notes Turkish occupation repercussions, its mercenaries targeting Tishreen Dam

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a written statement, noting the continued risks of the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the Tishreen Dam, which stated:

"For more than a month, the Tishreen Dam has been subjected to fierce attacks through continuous artillery shelling by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries. These attacks directly threaten to put the dam out of service, which could lead to a serious humanitarian and environmental disaster in the region.

Despite the tireless efforts made by UNICEF and the International Red Cross in coordination with the Energy Authority in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and the attempts of technicians and engineers to restore the dam to its normal state through five consecutive rounds of work, but it has not returned to its normal state to work, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries continue to target the vital infrastructure of North and East Syria.

Over the past five days, the pace of the bombing of Tishreen Dam again, which portends dire consequences for the entire region, knowing that the Euphrates Dam cannot accommodate the water level flowing from Tishreen Dam if the water is opened towards it, as the amount of water in Tishreen Dam is about 2 billion cubic meters, and if all the gates of the Euphrates Dam are opened, the level will exceed 16 billion cubic meters, which is also unbearable in the Euphrates Dam.

This catastrophic flow will lead to the flooding of large areas of agricultural land, hundreds of villages, and areas surrounding the Euphrates River, starting from Tabqa, passing through Raqqa, and reaching Iraqi territory.

Therefore, we appeal to the International Coalition, the United Nations, international and local humanitarian organizations, and all actors in the humanitarian field to take urgent action to neutralize Tishreen Dam from the bombing and put an end to the systematic attacks on the vital infrastructure of North and East Syria.

We also call on all our people in North and East Syria to participate in a protest stand tomorrow, Wednesday, at Tishreen Dam, to denounce the systematic bombing, and to emphasize our rejection of any threat that may lead to a humanitarian disaster in the region, and to support and assist the Syrian Democratic Forces in confronting these attacks by the occupying Turkish state and its mercenaries.
