DAA calls for solidarity with Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh

The Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) condemned the attacks by the Government forces on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo. It called on the communities and peoples of NE Syria to stand in solidarity with the residents of these neighborhoods, urged the international community to intervene to halt the attacks, and called on all Syrians to unite against those seeking to sow discord.

In a statement issued by the DAA, the attacks were described as a flagrant violation of the March 10 and April 1 agreements. The statement emphasized that the ongoing situation demonstrates that some parties continue to rely on military force rather than constructive dialogue.

The statement reads: "First, we strongly denounce and condemn the attack by the factions affiliated with the Transitional Government on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh. This assault is a blatant violation of the rights of the people of Afrin, who were forcibly displaced from their homes and are now subjected to severe injustices by Transitional Government forces.

What is happening in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh continues the practices of discrimination and reinforces the policy of division pursued by the Transitional Government. It is very clear that no lessons have been learned from what occurred in the coastal areas and Sweida, where the same arrogant mentality persists. This will inevitably lead Syria to disasters and irreversible destruction.

We call on all free and honorable Syrians to stand in solidarity with our people in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh. We also call on Syrian democratic forces, international organizations, and the global community to put an end to the policies pursued by the Transitional Government.

Today’s events confirm the lack of seriousness in finding a comprehensive solution to outstanding national issues and demonstrate that some parties still rely on force and internal conflict rather than constructive dialogue and collaborative work to build a democratic, pluralistic Syria that includes all its citizens without discrimination.

While we strongly condemn these attacks and hold the perpetrators fully responsible for their humanitarian and political consequences, we call on all citizens in NE Syria to express their national and humanitarian stance, support their brothers and sisters in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, and assist them in their legitimate resistance against these attacks.

We also urge all Syrians, across all communities, to unite against those seeking to ignite sectarian strife.

We affirm that peace and democratic solutions remain the only path to ending the Syrian crisis, while targeting civilians and safe areas will only result in further destruction."
