Last night, successive explosions shook the Mezzeh district of Damascus, where rockets landed near a supermarket in Mezzeh–School 86 and another near Al-Rahman Mosque in Western Mezzeh Villas, as ambulances rushed in large numbers to the impact sites.

The "Media and Communications Directorate" of the Ministry of Defense in the transitional government announced that Damascus had been subjected to a “treacherous attack” after two Katyusha rockets were launched from the outskirts of the city toward residential areas in Mezzeh and its surroundings, injuring civilians and causing material damage.

It stated that investigations had begun to determine the rockets’ trajectory and launch point, vowing to pursue those responsible.

In contrast, local sources reported deaths and injuries whose numbers were concealed, while media outlets affiliated with the transitional government, citing Syria’s Ministry of Health, announced that only one woman had been injured.

Information from other sources indicated a state of internal security tension. Local actors spoke of ISIS propaganda activity in the area, while political sources linked the attack to internal score-settling among groups affiliated with the transitional government following recent disputes, which coincided with al-Sharaa’s visit to the United States last week.

For its part, Israeli media, citing Israeli military officials, denied any involvement by Tel Aviv in the attack, confirming that no operations were carried out in Damascus on the night of the explosions.

The identity of those responsible remains unknown amid conflicting field reports.
