Today, the Training Office of the Democratic Society Academy in Aleppo organized a lecture to mark the 43rd anniversary of the July 14 Resistance (Death Fast), which began in 1982 under the leadership of Kurdish liberation movement activists inside Amed Prison, confronting Turkish fascism.

The lecture was held in the March 8 Hall in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, and was widely attended, including representatives of political parties and civil society organizations, as well as members of councils and communes.

The lecture began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs. Training Office member Haider Rashid then spoke about the historic resistance in prisons, saying, "This resistance was no less important than that which took place on the battlefields, as it played a pivotal role in the success of revolutions and national liberation movements around the world."

Rashid emphasized that "the July 14 resistance resonated widely in Kurdistan and Turkey, serving as a first step and lesson in confronting tyranny, fascism, and the reactionary concepts of the dictatorial Turkish state."
