Commander on Kobani frontline confirms continuation of 2014 resistance

The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been launching continuous attacks for 11 days on the Qereqozaqê hills and Tishrin Dam, southwest of Kobani. Fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) are displaying historic resistance and repelling the attacks.

Regarding the resistance being shown by the forces, a commander from the Qereqozaqê frontline, Roj Engîzek, spoke to ANHA agency.

"We will not allow them to enter our land"

Roj Engîzek pointed out that an unprecedented war is being fought on the Qereqozaqê hills and Tishrin Dam, saying: "Epic moments occurred. Our comrades are resisting bravely and with great strength, preventing the enemy from entering our region. The enemy seeks to occupy the area using modern technology, attacking with heavy weapons and attempting to impose a siege on us, but we have confronted them with our will. Even if only one of us remains, we will not accept this occupation. We will not allow the enemy to enter our land, and we are ready to respond to the enemy from all sides."

Roj Engîzek noted that fighters from all nationalities are part of the resistance front and explained that they are fighting for a free, democratic, and equal life.

"The spirit of Arin and Kilhat exists in Qereqozaqê"

Roj Engîzek highlighted the strategic importance of Qereqozaqê, pointing out that a major resistance is underway there. She continued: "These hills control the entire Euphrates Canton. There is resistance on these hills, and we will not allow the occupation to take hold. The enemy’s plan is to occupy Kobani starting from these hills, but we will not allow that to happen. Kobani has preserved the dignity of humanity, displayed a historic resistance, and represented the will of the people. For this reason, we will not allow Kobani to return to 2014. At that time, only one neighborhood remained under our control, and the occupiers were saying, 'Kobani has fallen.' But with the morale and resistance of comrades Arin and Kilhat, Kobani was protected. Following this same path, we will not allow Qereqozaqê to fall into their hands or Kobani to be occupied."

"If necessary, we will sacrifice our lives"

Roj Engîzek described the ongoing resistance in the area and assessed the situation: "It is crucial to know this area and ensure the stability of the people living here. Through this, we are dealing decisive blows to the enemy. We will fight to the last breath. They fight with their heavy weapons and modern technology, but we fight with our will. Nothing stands in our way. We are ready to sacrifice our lives for our people and our homeland."

"Everyone must join the SDF"

At the end of her statement, Roj Engîzek called on the people of North and East Syria to also leave their mark on history through unity. She said: "The unity of our people is very important, and our young women and men, in particular, must join the Syrian Democratic Forces. Let us protect our homeland and dignity together. To safeguard our achievements, we must once again make our mark on history. Our people must support the SDF in every possible way. Young women, especially, must not accept this situation and must not turn a blind eye to it. Silence means death. The cry of our people strikes fear in the heart of the enemy."
