Cleaning Jaqjaq River from oil leaked as result of Turkish attacks

The Turkish occupation's bombing by warplanes and drones on oil stations and wells in Jazera Canton led to oil leaking into the course of the Jaqjaq River and water springs in the region, which led to their pollution, threatening the agricultural crops and livestock that are irrigated from them.

To complete the work of cleaning water from oil, the Agriculture and Irrigation Body in Jazera Canton, with the participation of the Executive Council and the Water Resources Office in North and East Syria, followed up on oil leaks in the riverbed in the Tal Brak district.

The work is being carried out in coordination with the Rumailan Oil Company, where the oil leakage into the river was stopped, the leaked oil materials were extracted, the extracted oil was transported and its remains were disposed of.

In this regard, the Deputy co-chair of the Agriculture and Irrigation Body, Mahmoud Muhammad, told the media office, “We, as committees following up on this problem, have put in place all the capabilities to find out these leaks, and we will work with all our efforts to help solve this environmental problem, as it poses great risks that may affect the region.”

It is noteworthy that on February 14 of this year, the Agriculture and Irrigation Body in Jazera Canton held a meeting in the presence of representatives of the Hasaka Council, the Environment Body, the Local Administration and Municipalities Body, the Energy Body, the Rumailan Oil Company, and the Executive Council in Jazera Canton.

During the meeting, the attendees decided to form a special committee to clean up the oil leaks in the Jaqjaq River, where the Municipal Body was assigned to provide the necessary mechanisms to follow up the work and clean up the leaks, and the Agriculture and Irrigation Body was also assigned to follow up the work and provide staff for the assigned committee.
