A 15-year-old boy died from his severe injuries after being stabbed by unknown assailants in Latakia, an incident that has sparked widespread shock and raised questions about the deteriorating security situation in the city.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the victim was from the Alawite sect. He was attacked two days ago on Bint al-Shawish Street in al-Zira'a neighborhood, where unknown assailants stabbed him approximately ten times in various parts of his body. He sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition before succumbing to his wounds on Monday.

The crime occurred in broad daylight, highlighting the alarming escalation of lawlessness in areas controlled by the Syrian Interim Government and raising questions about the identity and motives of the perpetrators, especially given the stringent security measures imposed on the city.

According to the Observatory's documentation, the number of victims of killings and eliminations with retaliatory or unknown motives since the beginning of 2026 in Syria has risen to 19 people, amid popular demands to strengthen security and hold those responsible for those crimes accountable.
