A child was killed and his father and brother were wounded in a shooting near the al-Shaddadi military base in southern Hasaka province. The family was collecting scrap metal in the vicinity of the base when the incident occurred.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the family was in the area surrounding the base when the child was struck by a bullet and died instantly. The father and other son were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Residents accused members of the Syrian Interim Government forces stationed at the base of opening fire. This sparked outrage among the population, who emphasized that the victims were simply trying to earn a living by collecting scrap metal.

Attacks targeting civilians are frequent in rural Hasaka, particularly in areas near military bases and front lines. This exacerbates the suffering of residents already struggling with dire economic conditions in the region.
