Cautious calm returns to Deir Hafer area

A cautious calm prevails over the Deir Hafer area in the countryside of the Tabqa Canton, in North and East Syria, following shelling carried out by the forces of the Syrian transitional government.

Relative calm returned to the fronts of Deir Hafer city in the Tabqa countryside after artillery bombardments and attacks launched by armed groups affiliated with the transitional government forces, using suicide drones that deliberately targeted residential neighborhoods. The attacks sparked panic among residents, according to a statement by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

In its latest update on the shelling, the SDF noted that “this assault is a continuation of the same pattern of these militants, who just days ago committed a massacre that claimed the lives of eight civilians, a systematic behavior aimed at targeting civilians and sowing chaos in the region.”

Since yesterday morning, the Deir Hafer area has witnessed aerial drone strikes and ground attacks carried out by the transitional government forces, resulting in the injury of one civilian and seven members of the SDF and Internal Security Forces.
