During a press conference held today in the city of Sulaymaniyah, a group of writers and journalists in Southern Kurdistan demanded the closure of several Arab and Turkish TV channel offices, protesting what they described as media policies hostile to the Kurds and justifying violations carried out by mercenaries of the interim government and the Turkish occupation against Kurds in Rojava.

At the conference, Setara Aref read a statement on behalf of the participants, announcing the launch of a campaign aimed at shutting down channels that “support terrorism and justify crimes committed against the Kurds,” specifically mentioning networks such as Al Jazeera, Al-Hadath, and Al-Arabiya.

The statement added that, despite having offices in Southern Kurdistan, these channels use their media presence to legitimize killings and acts of mass violence against the Kurdish population. The statement called for the closure of their offices and strict legal measures against them “to prevent them from continuing to serve fascist policies hostile to the Kurdish people.”

At the conclusion of the conference, participants reiterated their demand to close the offices of Arab channels, including Al Jazeera, Al-Hadath, Al-Arabiya, and Al-Sharqiya, as well as Turkish media outlets in Southern Kurdistan. They argued that the media policies of these outlets extend the genocidal and violent policies faced by Kurds in various regions, particularly in Rojava, and emphasized that these policies target the Kurdish population across all parts of Kurdistan.
