The victim, identified as Mohammad Al-Majrash, had reportedly been abducted by the Turkish-backed "military police." His body was found inside his car on the outskirts of the town.

This marks the second such incident in a week. Days earlier, locals found the body of another civilian, Tarek Al-Khalaf, with 12 gunshot wounds near the same area.

Since Turkey's military occupation of Tal Abyad (Gri Sipi) in late 2019, Turkish forces and their affiliated armed groups have been accused of widespread human rights violations, including killings, abductions, and looting. Many Syrians view these actions as an attempt to forcibly displace the remaining population and alter the demographics of the occupied territories.
