Bayindir: We will make Turkish state understand that Kurdish people are united 

Keskin Bayindir, the co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), who arrived in Rojava as part of a delegation from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party and organizations from Northern Kurdistan, spoke to ANHA agency about the brutal attacks targeting the people of Rojava and about the positions and responses to these attacks.

Bayindir explained that the people of Northern Kurdistan and Turkey take to the streets daily in support of the people and the resistance of Rojava, saying:

“We wanted to urgently reach Rojava amid this siege and to stand against these brutal attacks targeting our people and the situation in Rojava. We are here, and we will continue to support the people of Rojava and their political status until the end—until victory and freedom. This is our most important message to the entire world.”

He continued: “From yesterday until today, through our meetings, we have sensed that the hopes and aspirations of the people of Rojava, in particular, are pinned on our people in the north and in Turkey. Every day we are at the borders and in the streets, standing at the forefront, but we must raise our voices even more and continue our support.”

Bayindir pointed out that the most prominent factor in these difficult circumstances, amid regional and international plans to determine the fate of the Kurdish people, is the mobilization of millions with the spirit of Kobani to defend Rojava.

He said: “Our call is directed to our people in the four parts of Kurdistan, and to Europe and the world at large. There is a great deal of misleading information being disseminated by Damascus and Turkey through the media. The most accurate source of information is the Autonomous Administration and Rojava itself. We must follow Rojava’s media and act accordingly.”

Bayindir shed light on the contradictions in the policies of the Turkish state, which speaks of peace in the north while launching attacks on Rojava.

He stated: “Even a seven-year-old child understands the contradiction in the Turkish government’s discourse. Here, plans of annihilation are being carried out against our people in Rojava and against our brothers and sisters through tanks, artillery, and heavy weapons, with brutal attacks, while in the north they speak of peace. No one believes this. It is a policy based on lies.”

He added: “Everyone must be aware of this contradiction, and the Kurdish people understand it well. That is why the people of the north and Turkey take to the streets. From the first day until now, we have said: the sound of tanks and artillery in Rojava cannot be combined with songs of peace in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey.”

He stressed: “Therefore, we will continue with all our strength, activity, and resistance to convey this truth to the Turkish state and government: the Kurdish people are one, with no distinction between the north, south, east, Rojava, and Turkey. Everyone moves with one national spirit, and the wounds of the people of Rojava are the wounds of the north, south, and east. For this reason, we will continue our struggle.”

Bayindir also pointed to the diplomatic efforts of the Autonomous Administration, noting that they are being managed with a flexible approach.

He concluded by saying:

“Rojava’s diplomacy has so far moved in a flexible manner, based on careful and accurate calculations, and has succeeded in halting the most dangerous attacks. The Turkish government should not misinterpret this flexible diplomacy.

The Kurdish people are not weak, and they do not pursue flexible diplomacy out of weakness, but because they seek to resolve issues without killing, war, or genocide, through dialogue. The foundation of this is the status and existence of the Kurdish people.

If this is not achieved, and if war is imposed on us instead of dialogue, and if the dismantling of our political status is imposed upon us, then we will resist everywhere—in the north, the south, Europe, and across the world.

Our people must trust themselves, for the essence of our people lies in a struggle that has extended for fifty years. We have endured great hardships, but the end will be freedom, victory, and recognition of our political status.”
