As part of the activities commemorating International Women's Day, which falls on March 8th each year, the Kongra Star in the city of Dirbasiya held a meeting on Sunday for women from all civil institutions, councils, and women's movements at the Culture and Art Center.

During the meeting, Aytan Ferhad; the administrator in the Future Syria Party, spoke about the importance of March 8th Day, pointing to the historical background of this day, which is linked to the struggle of working women in New York City. These women set themselves on fire in protest against working conditions and to demand their rights, a date that later became an international day of women's struggle.

She emphasized that the International Women's Day represents a moment to renew the commitment to continue the struggle for freedom and equality, noting that women played a fundamental role in the Rojava Revolution, demonstrating their presence in various political, social, and administrative fields, and becoming a leading element and an essential partner in decision-making.

She added that the gains women have achieved were the result of great sacrifices, which necessitates preserving and reinforcing these rights, especially in light of discussions about a new Syria, confirming the need to reject any backsliding on or infringement of women's rights.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation of the commitment to continued collaboration among women to safeguard these gains and enhance women's role in building a democratic society based on justice and equality.
