Avin Sweid highlights the role; influence of women under DAA

The co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria noted how women under the autonomous administration have turned into a symbol and leader of the societal revolution, and a source of inspiration for all struggling women in the world for their role in developing the protection system in the region.

On June,30, 2024 at 15:26, Avin Sweid participated in the 10th annual ceremony for the establishment of the Internal Security Forces - Women held in the city of Raqqa, where she emphasized, in her speech, the role of women and their influence under the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

Avin Sweid began her speech by addressing the plans made by women in North and East Syria during the July 19th Revolution. She highlighted their involvement in various fields such as politics, diplomacy, society, military, security, and organization. She praised women for overcoming the mentality of a sexist society and for playing a historic role in providing security and stability, thus earning recognition in the Syrian arena and beyond.

She noted how women under autonomous administration have transformed into symbols and leaders of the societal revolution by challenging outdated societal concepts, shifting society's perceptions of them, and empowering women to see themselves differently. She also denounced the notion that women are weak creatures in need of constant care and protection.

She emphasized the importance of women's awareness in developing their own protection system and that of society by mentioning the formations that were created, such as the Women’s Internal Security Forces, Women’s Protection Units, Community Protection Forces - Women, and Beth Nahrin Women’s Forces.

Avin Sweid acknowledged the sacrifices made by women in North and East Syria, honoring martyrs like Khamlin, Hira, and Malika. She commended the Women's Internal Security Forces for their efforts in resolving women's issues and defending the region against attacks.

She highlighted the inspirational impact of women in the region on struggling women globally, citing the example of eastern Kurdistan, Iran, and beyond, using the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom” to challenge oppressive regimes.

Avin Sweid called for vigilance among the Internal Security Forces - Women and women in the region against efforts to undermine their accomplishments by certain hostile forces, urging them to enhance their struggle through training and knowledge in alignment with the principles of a democratic nation.
