Assad meets Iranian Defense Minister

Following his visit to Damascus, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and his delegation met with Bashar al-Assad.

Assad discussed with Nasirzadeh, according to a Damascus government agency, "issues related to defense and security in the region, strengthening cooperation between the 2 countries to confront terrorism and dismantle its structure in a way that serves the stability and security of the region."

Nasirzadeh arrived in Damascus on Saturday evening for talks with officials in the Damascus government, where he met his counterpart in the Damascus government, Ali Mahmoud Abbas.

Nasirzadeh said in a press statement upon his arrival in Damascus that he made the visit at the invitation of the Minister of Defense in the Damascus government, stressing that there will be "meetings with political and military officials to discuss various aspects, especially in the field of defense and security in order to strengthen and consolidate them."

The defense minister's visit to Damascus comes at a time when the latter has witnessed repeated Israeli attacks recently.
