Armenians in Hasaka commemorate anniversary of August 7, 1982, martyrs

This morning, the Armenian Democratic Youth Movement and the Armenian Protection Forces commemorated the martyrs of August 7, 1982, at an event held at the Holy Family Armenian Catholic Church in the center of Hasaka, in the Jazera Canton.

This occasion commemorates the attack carried out by a number of Armenian National Army fighters on the airport police station in Turkish territory on August 7, 1982, during the Armenian Revolution. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of several fighters and the arrest of others, who were subsequently sentenced to death.

The event began with a religious hymn and prayers for the souls of the martyrs who fell during the resistance. This was followed by a candlelight vigil in honor of their sacrifices. A historical reading of this resistance was then given by the co-chair of the Armenian Democratic Youth Movement, Lusnak Kavorian, who recalled the fighters' courage and their adherence to their cause despite the enormous sacrifices they made.
