Armed Attack in Homs leaves citizen dead, his son injured

A man lost his life and his son was injured in an armed attack in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs. The father and son were targeted while working at their market stall, amid a significant increase in crimes occurring in areas under the Transitional Government’s control.

The victim, Nasser Muhammad al-Issa, 56, succumbed to severe gunshot wounds after being directly targeted by unidentified gunmen. His son, Faiz Nasser al-Issa, 25, was also shot in the thigh and leg and remains under treatment at the General Clinics Hospital in Homs. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the father could not be saved.

Residents of Wadi al-Dhahab expressed deep concern about venturing outdoors or working to earn a living, citing the escalation of sectarian-targeted attacks. They described the situation as a systematic and alarming form of sectarian violence, accompanied by ongoing kidnappings, forced displacement, and starvation, all occurring without legal or ethical accountability.

This attack has sparked widespread public condemnation in Homs, reflecting a recent surge in sectarian-motivated crimes carried out by unidentified armed groups in areas controlled by the Transitional Government, particularly targeting members of the Alawite community.
