Lawyers of the Al-Asr Human Rights Office revealed their report on isolation and violations in the high-security Imrali Model F prison, where their client, leader Abdullah Ocalan, and prisoners Hamili Yildirim, Omer Hayri Kunar and Weysi Aktaş, were detained, and it was translated into Arabic by the Furat News Agency.

The Al-Asr Human Rights Office shared with public opinion the results and monitoring report for the year 2023 about the detainees in the high-security Imrali prison, Model-F, of Commander Abdullah Ocalan and the other detainees, Hamili Yildirim, Omar Khairy Kunar, and Weysi Aktaş.

The Al-Asr Human Rights Office shared the report with public opinion at its headquarters in the Al-Asr Human Rights Office in Istanbul. The report included the stage during which Imrali Prison was built and the developments that followed bringing Abdullah Ocalan to this prison.

There is no information for 3 years

It was mentioned in the introduction to the report that Imrali Island Prison is a prison that was built as a solitary confinement cell with the feature of “isolation within isolation.” It was emphasized in the report that until November 2009, Abdullah Ocalan was detained alone only on this island, and it stated the following: “after the year 2009, the prison was renovated and additional cells were added. After adding the cells, other prisoners were transferred to this prison on the island. Other prisoners faced this system of isolation. Imrali Prison was built until November 2009 to isolate one person, and after November on the second of 2009, they turned the isolation system into mass isolation, and after detaining these detainees in Imrali for 6 years, they were transferred to another prison, and on March 16-17, 2015, our clients Mr. Hameli Yildirim, Mr. Omar Khairy Kunar and Mr. Weysi Aktaş, were held in place of these detainees, where they were detained in all forms under Mr. Ocalan’s conditions of absolute isolation, and currently, no information has been received about them in any way for 3 years.”

Last phone call: March 25, 2021

The “Status of Lack of Information and Absolute Lack of Communication” section of the report states that Abdullah Ocalan has been detained since February 15, 1999 until now in two single cells, as follows:

 “Although 5 detainees were brought to Imrali Prison on November 17, 2009, they held the detainees in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends. During the first 12 years, the right to interview Lawyers are illegally restricted to only one day and one hour per week, and even this right has been obstructed under the pretexts of “bad weather conditions” and “the boat is broken down”. Since July 27, 2011 until today, lawyers have gone to Imrali only 5 times in the months of May and August. The year 2019 and they conducted the meeting, and after August 7, 2019, the lawyers stopped meeting with the detainees, and the families only went to meet the detainees 5 times from 2014 until now, and the last meeting was conducted by Ocalan’s brother, Muhammad Ocalan, on March 3, 2020, and from the first day of Mr. Ocalan’s detention until Now, he has only spoken on the phone with the family twice (on April 27, 2020 and March 25, 2021), while the phone conversation on March 25, 2021 was interrupted, as the conversation was interrupted while it was being conducted, and from that day until now, no information has been received from Mr. Ocalan. and other detainees.

Yildirim has only met twice with his family for 8 years

Mr. Cetin Aktaş and Mr. Nasrullah Goran, who were transferred to Imrali on March 16-17, 2015, were transferred to Marmara Prison against their will on December 26, 2015, and 3 clients remained except for Mr. Ocalan. The client, Hamili Yildirim, was not allowed to meet his lawyer since 29 March 2015, when he was transferred to Imrali Island Prison, he was only able to meet his family twice in 8 years. The last direct meeting with him was the family meeting on August 12, 2019, and he was only able to speak on the phone twice, on April 27, 2020 and March 25, 2015. 2021, and no information was received about it from March 25, 2021 onwards.

Kunar was not allowed to meet his lawyer

The client, Omar Khairy Kunar and, was transferred to Imrali Island Prison and was never allowed to meet his lawyer since March 16-17, 2015. Kunar met his family only 3 times in 8 years, and the last direct meeting with him was on March 3, 2020 after he was transferred to Imrali Island Prison. He also made another phone call on April 27, 2020 due to his illness, and the Public Prosecution informed the family that it would not allow him to make calls on March 25, 2021 due to his objection to the conditions of detention, and no information has been received about him since April 27, 2020.

Aktaş, 8 years ago, only met his family 3 times

Agent Weysi Aktaş has not been allowed to meet his lawyer since March 16-17, 2015. He has been allowed to meet his family only 3 times in 8 years, and the last direct meeting with him was on March 3, 2020, and on April 27, 2020. Due to the spread of the disease, he was allowed to speak. By phone only once, and the Public Prosecution informed the family that it would not allow him to make a call on March 25, 2021 due to his objection to the conditions of detention, and no information has been received since April 27, 2020.
