Agricultural Bank introduces new system to make payments to farmers

The Agricultural Cooperative Bank introduced a new system to make payments to farmers for the ongoing grains season. This is because there was not enough liquidity to pay farmers the entire money, and 25% of the net payments have been paid to the farmers through the "Sham Cash" system.

The Agricultural Cooperative Bank of the Syrian Transitional Government has issued a notice today about the introduction of a new system for the payments to the farmers for the current 2025-2026 grains season.

Under this system, 25% of the farmers' net dues will be paid to the accounts of farmers with "Sham Cash."

This circular directs the bank branches to re-open the accounts of farmers and compile all the required information on their transfers, including the account number of "Sham Cash" and the amount of money to be transferred.

The bank also stresses on the importance of compiling all the required information of eligible farmers and submitting the files in the required format for transferring money.

The circular suggests that these steps are being taken because of the insufficiency of liquidity by the Central Bank of Syria for the entire value of grain for the current season.
