Afrin IDPs: our demand is to return with dignity accompanied by Asayish

As part of the implementation of the January 29 agreement, three convoys of IDPs from Afrin, numbering more than 1,200 individuals, headed toward Afrin, while another group of IDPs in al-Jazira region is still waiting to return. In this context, displaced individuals residing in al-Hasakah spoke to ANHA agency.

The displaced Kholi Mohammed highlighted the difficulties they faced during the displacement, saying: "We have been displaced for 8 years." We suffered a lot from hardship and pain in Shahba.

She added: "We were subjected to daily attacks, yet our resistance and struggle to return continued. However, displacement once again befell the people of Afrin, so we moved to the island." She affirmed that displacement cannot break the will of women and the community.

Khalil Mohammad emphasized that returning is their right, and continued: "It is our right to return to our homes and houses." Returning to Afrin was our dream and hope, but this right must also be protected."

For his part, the displaced Bilal Mahmoud said: "As a result of the attacks by the Turkish state and its mercenaries, we were forcibly displaced twice. We struggled for 8 years in Shahba near Afrin to return, but we were displaced again. Our only demand is a dignified return."

For her part, Nasrin Jamo pointed out that the enemy sought to exterminate and eliminate the Kurdish people, and mentioned that the goal of the Turkish state and its mercenaries is to eradicate the Kurdish people. And when we were forcibly displaced from Afrin, we headed to Shahba. And there in the camps, our resistance and struggle for a dignified return continued.

She continued, "But we were displaced once again." However, no matter how many times we are displaced, our struggle and resistance for return will continue. Our demand is to return to our homes and for the Asayish forces to be with us, so that we do not face any violations or threats.
