AANES: Turkish attacks are a full-fledged war crime

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria stressed, through a statement, the necessity of holding all those responsible for the killing of innocent civilians accountable in accordance with the relevant international and criminal laws, as there are acts of violence and war crimes with all their names committed by the Turkish occupation state against the people of North and East Syria.

The statement stated:

Amidst attempts to foster Turkey through the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government in the region by intervening and engaging in regional and international issues in order to direct Turkish public opinion towards hypotheses to cover up the ongoing internal policies after its negative role in Syria and the entire region has been proven; Turkey continues its genocidal policy against our regions, based on the same principle based on deluding Turkish public opinion with unfounded dangers and flimsy arguments that are far from the truth. This war machine directly targets our regions, threatening stability and hindering the efforts to combat terrorism, which our people continue to do and still do.

The targeting of civilians, as happened two days ago and last night, as well as the targeting situation that has escalated since October 4, is a clear targeting of stability and public efforts in Turkey’s unrestrained desire to violate all moral rules and laws that it does not already know, and a full-fledged war crime without any justification. These trends affect directly on stabilization efforts and ways to develop life services for our regions, which are home to 5 million people, including displaced people from other Syrian regions and forcibly displaced people from Ras al-Ayn - Serê Kaniyê, Girê Spi - Tal Abyad and other occupied areas.

While we, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, affirm that the continuation of these attacks will create a bad humanitarian and living situation, we also affirm that they - that is, the aggressive attacks - are a direct threat to security and stability, and this pushes the region towards difficult challenges, including chaos and terrorism, which originates in Turkey. It wants it to continue, so it is important and urgent that there be deterrent and transparent positions by all forces keen on stability in our regions and keen on combating terrorism to prevent Turkey from this aggression and its continuation, and to hold all those responsible for killing innocent civilians accountable in accordance with the relevant international and criminal laws because there is acts of violence and war crimes in all their names. We also call on our people to continue their unity and community solidarity, as they are the solid foundation for steadfastness and great popular resistance against the attempts of sedition and the attempts of Turkey and other forces that do not want our people to secure their stability and security.

Our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs of the Turkish aggression, a speedy recovery to the wounded.”
