The official website of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria reported today that a British government delegation visited the regions of NE Syria on Thursday and Saturday, December 7, 2023.

According to the website, the visiting delegation included (the Acting Consul General at the British Consulate General in Hawler, Catherine Shaw, the First Secretary for Political Affairs in the United Kingdom Office for Syria Affairs, Andy Scott, and the Second Secretary for Political Affairs in the United Kingdom Office for Syria Affairs, Nicola Moss and their accompanying delegation.)

They were received by the Deputy Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Rubel Baho, a member of the Administrative Board, Khaled Ibrahim, and the representative of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), Lana Hussein.

Rubel Baho spoke about the indiscriminate attacks launched by the Turkish occupation on various areas in NE Syria, pointing out that they mainly target vital facilities and infrastructure, which worsens the humanitarian conditions.

Baho stressed that ISIS is the beneficiary of the Turkish attacks on our regions, and that "the international community must move urgently to resolve the issue of ISIS detainees and families in NE Syria, and fulfill its responsibilities towards the Autonomous Administration."

In turn, Nicola Moss said that reaching a broad political solution to the conflict in Syria in accordance with UN Resolution 2254 is the only way that will bring lasting peace and stability.

At the end of the meeting, a woman and 5 children from the families of ISIS mercenaries who held British citizenship were handed over to the United Kingdom, according to an extradition document between the 2 sides.
