80 children, 51 women killed in Syria since beginning of 2026

At least 80 children and 51 women have been killed in different parts of Syria since the beginning of this year, in separate incidents reflecting the continued dangers facing civilians across the country.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that no fewer than 80 children and 51 women were killed in various areas of the country.

The causes of these incidents varied between random gunfire, explosions caused by war remnants and landmines, criminal killings, as well as shelling and military operations.

In January, 33 women and 39 children were killed in multiple incidents that included random shootings, war remnants explosions, killings and sectarian-motivated executions, in addition to gunfire, Turkish drone strikes, and explosions caused by mines and improvised explosive devices.

In February, the SOHR documented the killing of 15 women and 28 children, most of them as a result of explosions caused by war remnants.

In March, 3 women and 13 children were killed, most of them due to explosions of war remnants, in addition to criminal killings and incidents related to natural disasters.
