Over the past few days, the North and East of Syria region, particularly the countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton, has witnessed a series of attacks carried out by ISIS mercenary cells targeting security checkpoints and civilians. This represents a dangerous escalation aimed at destabilizing the region. These attacks are as follows:

- August 1: Armed men riding a motorcycle targeted a security forces checkpoint in the town of Hawaij Dhiban in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside with direct gunfire. No casualties were recorded.

- August 2: The Syrian Democratic Forces media center announced the martyrdom of a school principal in the town of Al-Sha'fah in the Hajin area of the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, following an attack launched by ISIS mercenary cells.

- August 3: A security checkpoint in the town of Darnaj in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside was subjected to an armed attack by ISIS mercenary cells, resulting in the death of a civilian.

August 5: Three members of the Internal Security Forces were injured in the town of Abriha after their vehicle was targeted.

August 6: Armed men carried out two separate attacks. The first targeted a security center in Dhiban, wounding a security member. The second targeted a checkpoint at the Attal roundabout between the towns of Al-Busayrah and Al-Shuhail. The Internal Security Forces responded to the source of fire, forcing the attackers to flee.

August 6: Armed men targeted a vehicle belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the village of Al-Jinniyah in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton. The damage was limited to material damage.

August 6: The Syrian Democratic Forces announced the martyrdom of two of its fighters in an attack by ISIS mercenary cells in the town of Al-Bahra, located in the city of Hajin, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Canton

Following up on ANHA agency's monitoring, the number of ISIS attacks in Deir ez-Zor alone has risen to 123 since the beginning of the year.

These attacks resulted in the deaths of 29 Syrian Democratic Forces fighters, 10 civilians, and dozens of injuries. The attacks included ambushes, bombings, and direct fire on checkpoints and military vehicles.

In the context of the response and security operations, the People's Protection Units (YPG) announced through their media center that the Military Operations Units (TOL) arrested, on August 3, an ISIS cell leader in the city of Hasaka. He held a key intelligence position within the mercenaries, overseeing the identification of targets for "terrorist" attacks.

Rohlat Afrin, a member of the General Command of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), confirmed that approximately 60 special operations had been carried out against ISIS cells since the beginning of 2025, resulting in the arrest of 64 mercenaries, including three leaders.

With the latest operation, the number of security and military operations has risen to 61, resulting in the arrest of 65 ISIS mercenaries, including leaders.
