69 families leave al-Ho Camp towards Deir ez-Zor

This morning, the administration of al-Hol Camp, south of the city of al-Hasakah in Jazira Canton, conducted the first flights for the residents of Deir ez-Zor and those residing within the camp during the year 2024.

Since the issuance of the decision to remove the Syrians from al-Hol Camp, towards their cities and villages, which was issued in 2020, it has made 54 trips.

Today's trip consisted of 254 people from 69 families, most of whom were women and children.

The trip was supervised by a delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, represented by the Office of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Joint Chairman Sheikhmous Ahmad, Farouk al-Mashi, and Maryam Ibrahim, in the presence of the Deputy Administrative Authority from the Executive Council of Deir ez-Zor, Fathi al-Atish, and the Social Affairs and Workers’ Authority in Deir ez-Zor, represented by the Joint Chairman, Maher al-Muhaisen.

The co-chair of the Office of Displaced Persons and Refugees Affairs in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Sheikhmus Ahmed, spoke to ANHA's agency and said: “Today’s trip is the first during the year 2024, and it is in accordance with the decision issued by the Autonomous Administration on 10/10/2020 regarding the removal of Syrian families from... al-Hol Camp towards their areas in North and East Syria.

Sheikhmus Ahmed noted that: “The departing families are 69 families consisting of 254 people, most of whom are children and women, and they will be followed by other batches from the city of Deir ez-Zor.”

Ahmed stressed: "The Autonomous Administration is in line with humanitarian standards to remove them from al-Hol Camp and send them to their areas with the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and they will be integrated into normal society and rehabilitated."

Ahmed called on international forces and organizations to help the Autonomous Administration to empty al-Hol Camp of Syrian families.

For his part, the Deputy Administrative Authority from the Executive Council of Deir ez-Zor, Fathi al-Atish, spoke to ANHA's agency and said: “The Executive Council in Deir ez-Zor has formed follow-up committees to inspect these families and follow up on their affairs until they stabilize and provide assistance to them, in addition to working to integrate them into society and secure job opportunities.”

Fathi al-Tatish stressed that the Autonomous Administration is the sole custodian of all Syrians and will remain so despite all the challenges.

This trip comes after the last meeting between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the sheikhs and notables of Deir ez-Zor canton, and their discussion of the file of those returning from al-Hol Camp and their integration into society under the sponsorship of the tribal sheikhs and notables.

AL-Hol Camp, located on the eastern side of the city of al-Hasakah in North and East Syria, which is considered the most dangerous camp in the world, according to the latest statistics obtained by our agency from the camp administration, houses 42,781 people, including 19,530 Iraqis and 16,779 Syrians, while the number of foreigners is 6,461 people, and 11 a person of unknown parentage.
