6 injured after grenade thrown at house in Homs countryside

Six people sustained injuries of varying severity after unidentified individuals riding a motorcycle threw a hand grenade at a house in the eastern Homs countryside before fleeing the scene. The injured were taken to hospitals in the city of Homs for medical treatment.

ANHA correspondents reported that six young men sustained injuries of varying severity on Friday dawn after a hand grenade was thrown at a house in Om Jabab village, in the Al-Makhram Al-Fawqani district of eastern Homs countryside.

According to ANHA correspondents, two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle threw a hand grenade toward the balcony of a house where a number of young men had gathered. The attack left six of them injured by shrapnel of varying severity before the assailants fled to an unknown destination.

The injured were identified as Ali Hussein Saeed, Mohammed Junaid Saeed, Ayman Afif Saeed, Ibrahim Hakim Saeed, Hussein Ibrahim Saeed, and Madeen Ahmed Saeed.

ANHA correspondents confirmed that some of the injuries were critical, while all six injured men were transported to hospitals in Homs city for medical treatment.

No information or official statement had been issued by the Ministry of Interior, Homs Governorate, or security authorities regarding the circumstances of the incident till the moment of preparing this report. In addition, no suspects had been reported arrested.

Parts of the Homs countryside have witnessed sporadic security incidents from time to time, including gunfire and the throwing of hand grenades or explosive devices by unidentified individuals, amid calls for tighter security measures and efforts to track down those responsible in order to prevent such incidents from recurring.
