470 IDPs return from al-Areesha Camp to their home areas

The administration of al-Areesha Camp, located south of al-Hasakah city in the North and East Syria region, today, Tuesday, managed 80 Syrian families, including 471 people, as part of the voluntary return program to their home areas.

This is the second batch this year, as 58 families, including 305 people, had previously left the camp last month, as part of the efforts of the Autonomous Administration to facilitate the return of the displaced, and provide the necessary support to ensure their stability in their cities and villages.

In this context, the administrator of al-Areesha camp, Salwa Jajo, stated: "The camp currently includes about 2,700 families, most of whom are from Deir-ez-Zor, who were previously displaced from areas controlled by the former Syrian regime to areas under the Democratic Autonomous Administration."

She explained that the difficult conditions in the camp are a result of the failure of humanitarian organizations to provide the required support and the lack of aid, and indicated that these conditions were among the reasons that prompted many families to make the decision to return.

The camp administration confirmed that voluntary return operations will continue in the coming days, as work is underway to organize additional batches to ensure that those wishing to return to their areas leave as soon as possible.
